Kux Stop: La Union

For some intro on why we are called 3104, please refer to this post. (I apologize for the broken images, though. will try to reconstruct ASAP)

Anywhoo, here's another trip we planned after my failed attempt to go to Malaysia with them. HAHA. We decided to go on a trip in the Philippines in case the whole Malaysia incident would happen again. Luckily we pushed through with this one. As what the title would say, yes, we chose La Union because we wanted to surf. Haha. So, as always, I did an itinerary and you can check it here. I'm just going to run through the itinerary and show you some pictures of places we've been. :)

DAY 1

Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary, Manaoag, Pangasinan
The La Union trip was, I think, a week after I first got my plate number for my new baby (car), Hari. I decided to make a quick change to the published itinerary and changed Pindangan Falls to go to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary in Manaoag because the place is famous for the blessing of vehicles for, well, good voyage.

Thunderbird Resort, Poro Point, San Fernando, La Union
Greece. The place is similar to the Grecian City of Santorini. The cover image of this blog is the ceiling art of the hotel's lobby. Pretty amazing eh? Here are other photos of the Place.
Braving the heat of the sun just to get that perfect picture shot! ahaha
Beach View
Err, Stairs view?
Midway Grill, La Union MacArthur Hwy, San Fernando City
LUNCH! Haha, after all the travelling, we probably were able to eat lunch at around 2pm. Midway Grill is located along the Highway, wich makes it very convenient for travellers to actually locate it. DO NOT follow GPS directions to this place because you will lose your way. The traditional "Manong, pwede pong magtanong...?" will do the trick. Hahaha

Watch out for this on the road.

Midway's Bestseller -- BBQ-ed Baby Back Ribs!

Victory shot of FINALLY being able to find the place. Hahaha.
Ma-Cho Temple
A Chinese Buddhist Temple atop of a hill in La Union.

Meryenda @ Halo-halo de Iloko
They say it's the best halo halo in Ilocos probably there's some sort of powdered milk in it, or something. And my, the serving size of their halo halo is BIG!

For me, the taste of the halo halo was just okay, nothing really special about it. I prefer Razon's over it. The place is reaaaaaly photogenic though. :)

Christ the Redeemer Statue
It's sort of like the statue of Jesus in Rio De Janeiro only smaller. Also located atop of the hill, the scene here is totally amazing, especially at sundown. You can also see the view of the city here. :) The thing about this place is that it's hard to reach. There was a point on our way there that we were wondering if we were still on the right direction. Turns out we were, and, well, just look at the photos!
Overlooking SFLU!

Sunset View.

Bacsil Ridge
Prolly the most walang kwenta destination of the trip because the place was on renovations.
They say that there's a better view of the whole city up here but when we got there, it was closed for renovations. :( I hope when I go back, I'd be able to see the full "park" they did up there.

Bacsil Ridge is also a historuc place where:
insert sad face here.

DAY 2 BEAAACH AND SUUURF!!

Though no actual surfing photos here, I was soooo glad because I was finally able to stand on the surfboard, without injuries! (I furst tried out surfing in Baler and ended up with a sprained left ankle. Ouch!)

We checked in at Isla Bonita in San Juan, La Union. Rooms are affordable BUT! they're waaay out of the surf spots there. I advise not to check in there (and resorts near its vicinity) if you're looking for a total surfing adventure. Might I mention the bad service (1 hour serving time for breakfast) and not-really-delicious-and-super-expensive food. We had to go look for another resort near where the waves are at. Luckily, we found that haven in SEBAY BEACH RESORT. Surf lessons, restaurant, and rooms - total surfing package. We planned on transferring to the resort but unfortunately, they were fully booked.

So, there you have it, our 3104 La Union Escapade. :)

Till Next Time!
