Lipliners for Lipsticks?
I have A TON of lipsticks at home, most of which belong to the extremes -- bright and dark shades of red. I also have other shades like orange, purple, and black.

Dream Make-up Palette, Achieved!
| Dream make-up palette achieved! Yes! :))
Items bought from @blueberryshoppe (IG account) |
Yeah, make-up time once again guys. Haha.
For my previous make up stints, if you have noticed, I have been experimenting on blending psychedelic colors for my eyeshadow. Though it may be cool and hip, sometimes psychedelic make-up may seem inappropriate when going to formal events. That was when I browsed through make-up palettes that had colors that were on the neutral side.
I searched for make up palettes that had neutral colors. The photos were overwhelming but one thing caught my attention.
Yes, it was the Urban Decay NAKED 2 palette. To me, the color range was complete. It also comes in a packaging that is not so bulky for me. I finally got hold of it last month thanks to @blueberryshoppe! :)
If you purchase the original Urban Naked from US, it costs at around 3K++. This version of the NAKED2 Palette is from Singapore and I could say, I'm still quite satisfied with the results. This one only costs PhP800.
I also got an eyebrow pencil and an orange lipstick.

The Monster's Make-up Essentials
I was rather debating on whether the title of this post shall be "Everyday Make-up Essentials" or "The Monster's Make-up Essentials". I decided to choose the latter because you see, I don't normally use make-up everyday.
For me, using make-up depends on my mood. Really.
I just use make-up when I feel like it OR when I feel like I want to be "pretty" in the office. Haha. I also prep up when it is really necessary (like office events, or on special occasions). On RARE times, I use make-up when going to church OR going to the mall OR when I go out and meet with friends (usually if I wake up waaaaay earlier than the scheduled time, hoho).
I do always keep a stash of MY make-up essentials in my bag in case those moments when I do decide to put make-up on arrive. :)) Let me share them with you.

Ooops, I overspent.
This was supposed to be posted last week but I left the pictures in my office terminal. So anyway..
Last week before sweldo, I went to Trinoma. I was just planning on strolling around the mall and buying "some" stuff I needed. Well, as the title suggests, you know what happened.

Product Review: Maybelline Lasting Drama: Gel Eyeliner
| Maybelline Lasting Drama: Gel Eyeliner PhP449.00, SM Department Store |
Brief History: Why I started using eyeliners
I started using eyeliner on my lower lash line to look as though I was mysterious and all that ish. (Emo wasn't uso that time pa.)Haha, yeah, it all started when I saw this scene from The Mummy (if you may know is my all time favorite movie):
Haha, the look on Rick O'Connell's face when she emerged looking like this. I wanted to have that same kind of effect, too, back then. (Didn't happen though. HAHA)
Brief History: Eyeliner products I have tried
K. Going back on track. It is only of late that I have learned that eyeliners can also be applied to the upper lash line. Loser much. Actually I really liked the effect of that (it seems to look more natural) than lining my lower lash line (which kinda makes me look mysterous-y and DEPRESSED *ehem* Emo *ehem*).
The first eyeliner that I have used were of my Mom's. (I have only been in the girly girly make-up scene like, last year so, before that, the only make-up that I have ever used are that of my Mom's or sister's.) They were the Ever Bilena pencil eyeliners that smelled like freshly chopped wood in the lumberyard. Yes. Those.
Back in high school, when I was a "closet" kikay. I tried purchasing liquid eyeliners from, err, Fashion 21. Haha, I was in HS for crying out loud. I never, ever, decided on using them again after I accidentally poked my eye with it. It was soooooooo hard to manipulate. Then, the product was "namumuo-muo" when it got dried. Eeek! Never tried purchasing liquid liners, ever.
Then, last year, one of my Angels, Maye, informed me of this wondrous invention called gel eyeliner she purchased from, I think, Victory Mall. I loved the product back then. The only problem with it though was it gets easily smudged. My face is naturally oily. So you can just imagine my eyes at the end of the day. I looked like a frigging panda.
Product Review: Finally (sorry for being such a blabbermouth)
This time around, I was browsing through the products at the Maybelline counter that I saw this eyeliner. I don't know what hit me but I just felt a sudden urge to buy it (despite it being a bit pricey for my taste). I was too excited to try it when I got home.
So. Here's the verdict.
Pros:
- Very easy to apply - very easy to control; brush glides smoothly when used in application (ulike the liquid eyeliner's brush)
- Product dries fast when applied.
- It takes a longer time to give in to my oily face. LOL. In other words, it lasts. (not making me look like a panda at the end of the day)
- Does not easily smudge.
- Hindi namumuo-muo, when applied.
- Easily goes off with make-up remover. (Haven't tried with soap and water yet. I'll let you know about that.) You wouldn't need to rub the cotton to your eyes for it to be removed.
- No scent. (Unlike the pencil eyeliner)
**see, the brief history sections have a point, you know. hahahah.
Cons:
- A bit pricey.
- I prefer a brush that is incorporated with the product. I'm a klutz, so if I accidentally lose the brush, I'd have to buy another one to replace it. (yung brush lang ha). So it's kind of a hassle.
Obviously, my pros outnumber the cons so I'd definitely recommend you to use this product. Actually, I LOVE IT! Haha. Never mind the price as you will be able to get your money's worth.
I'd like to thank Maybelline for manufacturing such a product. I can well attribute my "blooming face" to this. nyahaha. :))

Make-up Artistry 101
So, aside from being a nail art fanatic (shameless blog plugging: www.themonsterclaws.wordpress.com), I am also a self-confessed make-up, err, addict?
My interest in make-up artistry piked when I had myself made up for our company's 15th anniversary celebration. Actually, it was the fake lashes that caught my attention. If I remember correctly, I blogged about it here. Below is a preview of my look:
First the eyelashes, then came the make-up. Of course, glam lashes had to be paired with glam make-up! Eversince I had my own make-up kit, I have been addicted to trying out different looks for myself. Then I once posted a status on facebook expressing my interest in taking make-up classes to, well, sort-of "formalize" my make-up knowledge.
Lo and behold, Tin, a close friend, found an ad in cashcashpinoy.com about an institution that offers make-up class for a buget price (PhP750 for an all-day make-up training). No more second thoughts about this! Vouchers for the class were bought right away! Hahaha. :)) There were three of us in our barkada who went to the class: Tin, Yhani and I. Tin also tagged Anj, her officemate, along. And the four of us shall see the word KIKAY in a different light. LOLS. :))
| Bare face. Here with my friend Yhani. |
I arrived at the venue a bit early. It was held at Stidio SnR located at Unit 301 Millennium Place, #17 Meralco Ave., Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
I had to wait for Tin because my voucher was with her. While waiting, the receptionist allowed me to register. Soon after, she gave me a packed snack and a free make-up palette (see photo below). Not bad for a PhP750 worth class.
Anyway, the class started. I wasn't able to take progress photos since I was too busy fiddling and shaping my eyebrow. HAHA. I was too scared I might mess up and go for the eyebrow-less look. Anyway, let me just give you an overview (as far as i can remember) of some of the topics discussed in class:
- The importance of primers
- Eyebrow grooming and application(this took most of my time)
- Selecting the right colors for you
- How to apply eye make-up
- Blush
- Lipstick
- AAAAANNND the SMOKEY EYES LOOK! :D
| Me. Hihi. :) |
| Yhani. Kux. Tin. |
Here are some photos we managed to shoot that day (some are mine, some are of Tin's):
Word of precaution: the class does not have lunch breaks! You will be dead hungry after the class. haha. So, when we were done, we passed by Brother's Burgers for some late lunch.
| Of course, the food had to be inserted. Haha, pretty ladies eating in style. :)) |
There you have it folks! Kikayness all the way! hahaha!
