October Nail Art Photo Dump

This month, I did three nail art designs of one theme. Halloween.

First design was this:

FIRST! I want to apologize for the wrong spelling. HAHA. We all have bobo moments, you know. Lols. Anyway. I did these nails as an entry for a nail art contest in Instagram but decided not to submit when I saw the competition. HAHA. Walay bout di-ay. Srsly. :))

Then the second one was this:

Reminds me of sparkly witch nails. Haha.

There was this nail art hype in Landmark and I just can't NOT (???) join in. They were selling these glittery powders that you can put on your nails. I bought this one right here and another purple glitter powder which is around PhP30++ each.

I only wore these nails for a day. Yes, they may seem good to look at but apparently, they're not even close to comfortable when worn. I always have this feeling of having dirt on my fingers.

Third and current nails are these:

Cutesy Halloween characters/elements inspired by some nail artist I am following at Instagram. Did my own rendition and viola! :)

I was too happy when the ate cleaning the restrooms at Podium complimented ze nails. Hihi.

P.S.
Don't you think Frankie's cute? Hahaha.

Happy Halloween~!

Nail Art Tutorial: Piglet

My take on the Piglet Nail Art.
I was browsing thru Instagram, (or was it Google) for Piglet photos because I wanted to do a rubber stamp for him and came across this photo and just fell in love with it:

(Ah, yes, it was Google. Now I remember.)

So I decided to recreate it and now I am sharing it with you.

September: Nail Art Photo Dump

Yay to the Nails!

If you have quite noticed, I have not done nail art because I had to let my nails breathe. Not just the week long break but the serious month long time off from nail polish . See, I NEEDED to let them rest for a while because they have become a bit yellow and they tend to break really easily. I had to endure dull nails for the whole month of August. Boo hoo hoo.

Anywhoooo, seeing that my nails are stonger now... Let's get back down to biznezz!! Hahaha. September Nail Art photo dump. Here's what I've got:

Pretty Florals

Luckily (or not), I was chosen to be one of the Ninangs (godmother) of Myla's (my office friend) son, Paul Christian. I was on a blouse hunt and fell in love with this floral blouse (see photo background). I was so in love with it that I decided to also do my nails with the same design. Haha. Terno! :)

June-July: Nail Art Photo Dump

So aside from the tutorials posted here in my blog, here are the nail art designs (which were not that well-documented) I did for the previous month, up to the present. Designs are posted in chronological order. The last being the latest.

Too lazy to watermark them but all photos posted here are mine unless otherwise stated.

1. Patriotic Nails
The 115th Anniversary of Philippine Independence is Celebrated on June 12. I was feeling a bit patriotic, hence the nail design.

Nail Art Supplies: Foils, Beads and Blings

While doing some nail blog browsing, I came across this particular blog (can't remember anymore) that did a particular tutorial about the use of nail foils. My curiosity shot over the top and had this strong urge to buy me some nail foils. :))

Divisoria is the closest place I know that have stores dedicated to selling nail art supplies. Huhu, the place is really out of my way and going there is too much of a hassle.

For the nail noob, nail foils look something like this (no personal photo yet):

Nail Art Tutorial: Good Minion, Bad Minion

Good Minion, Bad Minion

So, in time with Despicable Me 2's opening at the cinemas, I did a nail art design inspired by those cute, and not so cute litol minions.

Nail Art Tutorial: Summer Pastel

Summer Pastel
(As Tin, my friend, suggested.)
Hey guys! Here's my nail-art tutorial number two (in photos)! :) Though it may seem like the summer season has already gone to pass, I think summer is still appropriate for this design because of the colors. Hehe.

Nail Art Haul - 6/23/2013

So, I just got back home from mass and lunch with the fambam. We went to the grocery store BUT I came home, NOT with grocery items but with stuff for nail art. HAHAHA. I can't seem to get "NAIL ART" and related topics off my mind these days. Tsktsk.

SO. Let me just give you a run through of what I bought today.

1. POCKET TRIPOD - The pocket tripod is for, of course taking clear, blur-free photos for the nail-art tutorials and posts that I do. Hoho, might do nail art tutorials on video next time (if time permits).

Nail Art Tutorial: Geometric Nails

Geometric Nails in gray, white and lavender.
A friend suggested I do variations on my nail shots so, here ya go. HAHA.
Sorry, did not notice the bottle cap was dirty. :))
Mark the calendar! This is a first! Haha, I have never done a nail art tutorial before. I just usually paint away and post the end result.

This time, guys, I am sharing a step by step "tutorial" on how to do geometric nails. It's just so simple! :)

The Humble Beginnings of a Nail Art Addict

You've all been seeing posts about me and the things I do with my nails.

I have spent sooo much time, effort and, well, money, with this addiction.
Being an addict at something always start form something, right? Well, my story goes like this...

I already loved painting my nails. That started when I was in college when nuns vanished (I graduated from a Catholic school) and no one cared about how you color your nails. Back then, my nails were an expression of myself. I felt like my nail color should be in sync with my overall mood.

During my free time, I admired nail art designs on the web. I felt nail art for me was too far reaching. I was a student back then and my allowance couldn't afford the per nail rates of nail art; solid polish colors were my only option.

It wasn't until this boring afternoon in the office that kind of changed my life. I came across this post on WhoaNails.com. In summary, the blogger bought this little how-to book on nail art and did a sample tutorial of one design in the book. I got so... excited(?) about this that I HAD TO go and look for the same book that day. It felt like this sudden urge that if I did not do it then, I'd die? (Haha, exaggeration here, but I do hope you get what I mean). End result? I got the book:

Polished: The Nail Art Book. Bought this at Powerbooks.  PhP195. It comes with four mini size nail polish in hot pink, white, blue, and tangerine.
So from there, the very first nail art design I did out of the designs in the book was this:
Cutesy little baby panda french tips.

Aside from the tutorial in the book, I added some customizations to the design like the green background (as seen on my thumb in the picture). Though it may not look like it, those are supposed to be eucalyptus leaves. HAHA.
So there. From that, the addiction began. I bought myself nail polishes on a weekly basis. For our Monito, Monita (exchanging of gifts during Christmas), I requested that the one who got my name should give me nail art brushes and dotting tools. Still not satisfied, I bought even more nail art brushes. I now have a container full of nail polishes.

And these are just some of its contents. Hoho.

If you check my Instagram account (link over there <<<<), you will be able to see more of the nail art stuff I have bought over time. :P

I shall be transferring my nail art posts from my other blog so stay tuned for more nail art designs.

If you have any requests or suggestions, just comment down there, or send me an e-mail at kuxcarino@gmail.com. ^_^

Nail Art: By Request and By Accident

Hallloooo y'all!

My friend Pao asked me why I haven't been blogging lately...the convo went like this:

Pao: "Work?"
Me:  "Part of it, yes but mostly tinatamad lang talaga... Hahaha."

Call it a writer's block or something like that. Or maybe it's just plain KATAM. :))

Anywhoo, the other (other) day, a surge of creativity overtook my body. (whut?)

That time, my nails were bare. So I asked for suggestions from my Facebook friends about what possible nail art could I do.

Someone suggested that I do an Iron Man-themed nail art. That was the only suggestion I got so I had to follow it. LOL. Here's what I came up with:

Red and Gold ombre nails + Iron Man helmet + Iron Man chest
I could not replicate the same design on to my right hand because there's just too much detail. My dexterity level ain't ready for that yet so.. I decided to take them off after the photo op. HAHA.

I was going through my nail polishes and saw this one particular bottle that I have not used yet. It was a cracking nail polish in purple. Found a suitable color combination for it and here was what I ended up with:

OMG's pink bubble gum + Bobbie's cracking purple nail polish
The end result reminded me of the eggs in the then-popular game Dynomite. Well, if it isn't really that popular, here's a screen shot of the game:

I am currently letting my nails "breathe" again. They're beginning to discolor and break easily.

Do you have any nail care tips/regimen? Feel free to share it with me.. fles. :))

Ladybugs in the house!

I wanted to paint my nails red.

Since I've been doing nail art, it feels kind of weird to see my nails in just plain, solid colors. Haha, i feel like my nails somehow seem incomplete without them having any designs. They feel...bare.

So, with red as the main color, the first thing that popped into my mind were...tadaaa, cutesy little ladybugs! Searched Google images to look for some ladybug-inspired nail art. I came across one and finally did my own version of it.

Here ya go gais:

Cutesy little ladybug eyes looking at yah!
They seem a little creepy the longer you stare at 'em. Haha

Aztec Prints in Green

I have been longing to have Aztec Prints on my nails but I just haven't got the time (and patience) to do so...until last night.

I went home early yesterday because I had to have my dress for Rens' wedding fixed. After our dress fitting I went home with pretty much nothing to do so I decided to do my nails. I have been using my previous nail color for too long now. HAHA.

Today's uniform is mostly dominant green. So, to match my nails with my clothes, I tried to do a monochromatic green french tip design. I wasn't satisfied with the turnout so I decided to add details until, finally, ended up doing an Aztec Print nail design.

So, here ya go!
And to just show you, the following image's background is our uniform for today. :)

Nail-bellishments!

SO! I have decided to merge my posts to one blog. At this point in time, managing different blogs can already be a hassle for me. You know, being the busy person that I am. LOL.

As you all may know, I have been addicted to doing nail art since late last year. I did a separate blog, which you can check out at themonsterclaws.wordpress.com, where I post my nail art stuff. But that blog hasn't been updated in a long time anymore. It's nice to have a blog that, well, runs a specific theme and all, but yeah, managing it is becoming too much of a hassle for me. (Or I'm just tamad like that.) HAHA!

Anywhoo, this shall be my first nail art post here.

There! Nail-bellishments, as I would call them.

I bought them at EazyFashion.com, along with other nail-related products. *ehem* nail polishES *ehem* The gold stripes are actually nail tapes I bought at Divisoria.

Silly me. I forgot to buy the special glue that is supposed to be used to stick them to your nails. So what I did was to use a LOT of clear nail polish to make them stick... and it only lasted for an entire day. When I got home, I realized that the gem on my index finger was already missing and some of the tape were already peeling off. I decided to take them all off.

I was excited to work on a new nail design last night because my dresser has been revamped into a make-up dresser(?). I had flourescent lights attached to it so that working on my make-up (and nails) look VERY CLEAR! Ugh, to get my point, just refer to the photo below:

TADAAAAAAAAA!!!
I could not think of a nail art design that was easy to do. My eyes landed on my phone and made a quick decision.

COPY the color combination! HAHAHA. :)) I do hope this lasts until the end of the week. :P
